H.A.L.T. the Crisis in Our Schools!
PEGGY HATTON
Peggy has been a Chestnut Ridge resident and homeowner for 19 years. She and her husband are the proud parents of two sons currently attending East Ramapo public schools. Peggy was awarded the ‘Unsung Hero’ award by the Spring Valley NAACP for her work on behalf of the East Ramapo public school students. She was a director of human resources and has experience with employee contracts, benefits and labor laws. She is a former parent member of the Committee on Special Education. As a member of the school board, she will hold the district ACCOUNTABLE for providing the programming and curriculum needed to increase graduation rates and raise test scores.
BRENDA CAROLE ANDERSON

As a former educator with 28 years in New York City schools and two Master’s degrees in Education and Administration, Carole is aware of the problems that our schools are facing. As a mother, she knows that the quality of EDUCATION in our public schools affects both our children and our community. She will work to restore the dedication to services, student performance, and excellence that once made East Ramapo one of the top districts in the state. The renewed reputation for excellence and success will raise property values and rally community spirit for all residents.
ANTONIO LUCIANO
Tony has been a resident of Chestnut Ridge for 20 years. As a parent, he understands the importance of giving children the tools necessary to reach their full potential. He retired from the NYPD in 2008 after serving 27 years. As an NYPD supervisor he was known as someone who was able to make tough and sound decisions. As a member of the school board, he will work to ensure that the fiscal mismanagement of the past will not be continued. During this difficult economy we need a strategic thinker and planner to restore FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY, protecting our schools, our children, and our taxpayers.
JOANNE THOMPSON
JoAnne has been a school board member since November 2010. She is a Certified Paralegal and a NYS 19A Certified Examiner with 17 years experience in school bus transportation. As a mother, JoAnne knows that parental engagement and confidence is essential for academic achievement. She believes that East Ramapo needs to embrace and encourage parental and community involvement. As a member of the school board, JoAnne will continue to build greater TRUST AND TRANSPARENCY and a partnership with the community that is based on both respect and open, timely communication.

It’s great to see this organization happening. Wonderful.
Our children deserve and require the best efforts of the community to get an education. It is the only shot we have at embracing our future. Voting as an expression of giving your consent to how your tax dollars are spent, affects everyday of your child’s future.
I could not be more proud of this effort. Again, Wonderful! Fantastic!

I have met all the candidates but one. I have yet to see Ms Thompson in action on the board, but that is my fault.I must say seeing this website and the information given would truly inspire me to vote for H.A.L.T.. I just want to say that the organization and commitment that all members of power of ten have shown here is extremely impressive. As I recoup from my health problems I will be back in the loop to help out. Sorry I couldn’t be there with you lately. YOUR ARE ALL MY HEROS!!!
